Friends Weather Life's Storms Together

 
This tutorial is dedicated with love to Tracey of Soxsational Scraps (better known as Sox) and to Oopsie Daisy
as this tut n' tag was created with the charity scrap put together for Sox and the part I am using is Oopsie's
Both could use a friend right now - Tracey for personal reasons and Oopsie had a hardcore virus sweep through her entire TERRABYTE system....and wipe the lot. She has lost everything - her kits, her designs, everything. Today she informed us she was leaving the Designing world, but NONE of us at Exquisite would hear of it!
So Tracey and Lynette - this tutorial is for you
 
Supplies
 
Scrap kit of choice - I am using Oopsie Daisy's part in the "To Sox With Love" Charity Collab available exclusively at Exquisite Scraps
Two papers used are also in the collab though are Scraps by Jessica
Tubes of choice - I am using the gorjuss artwork of Suzanne Woolcott which can be purchased from her store
WSL_Mask214 by Chelle, available from her blog
Fonts of choice - I am using 2Peas Sunshine and LiorahBT
Plugin: Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow (optional)
 
 
~ Step 1 ~
 
Open a new 600 x 600 blank canvas flood-filled white
 
Paste odn-tswl-Frame2 as new layer
Resize by 15%
 
With your Magic Wand select the area inside the Frames
Selections / Modify / Expand by 10
 
Activate Background layer
Paste SSK_paper6_JD as new layer
Resize by 50%
 
Selections / Invert
Delete and deselect
 

~ Step 2 ~
 
Paste odn-tswl-cloud as new layer
Resize by 12%
Position in upper left
 
Paste odn-tswl-floral6 as new layer
Resize by 8%
Position in lower left
 
Paste odn-tswl-flora7 as new layer
Resize by 8%
Position alongside other flower on the left
Move slightly down
Use your Selection Tool to draw a selection around the bottom part of the stem
Delete and deselect
 
 
 Layers / Merge / Merge Down
Duplicate
Image / Mirror
 
Paste odn-tswl-envelope as new layer
Image / Rotate by 20 to the left
Resize by 5%
Position in lower right
 
Paste odn-tswl-heart as new layer
Resize by 5%
Image / Mirror
Position over the bottom part of the envelope in lower right
 
Activate the Frame layer
 
Paste odn-tswl-knottedribbon as new layer
Resize by 13%
Position with the edge that is visible along the edge of the Frame
 
Paste odn-tswl-floral5 as new layer
Resize by 5%
Position OVER the flower in the centre of the Frame above the ribbon
 
  
Paste odn-tswl-swirlbling2 as new layer
Resize by 15%
Position in lower left corner
 
Layers / Arrange / Send to Bottom
 
Duplicate
Image / Mirror
Layers / Merge / Merge Down
 
Activate top layer
Paste odn-tswl-glitterborder as new layer
Resize by 14%
Position along the bottom with the ends protruding slightly
Duplicate
Image / Mirror
Layers / Merge / Merge Down
Position to your liking
 
Duplicate again
Image / Flip
Place in position
Layers / Merge / Merge Down
 
Lower the opacity to 50
 
 
 
~ Step 3 ~
 
Activate your Frame layer again
 
Paste one of your tubes of choice as a new layer
Resize as necessary
Position in the left Frame
Layers / Arrange / Move Up
 
Your tube should now be above cloud but still below the ribbon
 
Repeat steps with second tube in the right Frame
 
With your Magic Wand select inside your Frames again
Selections / Modify / Expand by 2
Selections / Invert
Selections / Modify / Feather by 2
 
Activate one of your tubes
With your Eraser Tool carefully erase the excess tube beneath the ribbon that falls below the Frame
 
STILL SELECTED activate the other tube and repeat
Deselect
 
 
Activate Background layer
 
Paste SSK_paper5_JD as new layer
Layers / New Mask Layer / From Image
Locate WSL_Mask214
OK
Layers / Merge / Merge Group
Lower opacity to 30
 
Select your Text Tool and two fonts of choice
I am using 2Peas Sunshine for the print and LiorahBT for the script
Choose a colour from your tube
 
Foreground - null
Background - #64737b
 
Type out the words "Friends weather Life's Storms" in print
And "Together" in script
Convert each to raster layer separately so you can move each around to your liking
 
Duplicate the word "Together"
Move it somewhere to your liking
Lower the opacity to about 12
 
Add a drop shadow:
H & V - 1
Opacity - 30
Blur - 3.00
Colour - #64737b
 
Apply this same drop shadow to your elements
 
Select your Text Tool again with the same colours
Choose your font (or use the same one)
Type out your name
Objects / Align / Horizontal Centre in Canvas
Convert to raster layer
 
Add any effects you wish (I used some noise and a Gradient Glow)
Apply the same drop shadow as above
 
Finally, add your © copyright, licence and watermark
 
Then save as a GIF or JPG and you're done!

Friends are Flowers in the Garden of Life

 
Supplies
 
Scrap kit of choice - I am using the lovely "Springy" by Oopsie Daisy available exclusively at Exquisite Scraps
Tubes of choice - I am using the delightful artwork of Rion Vernon and PinUpToons which can be purchased from CILM
**PLEASE DO NOT USE HIS ARTWORK WITHOUT THE APPROPRIATE LICENCE**
Fonts of choice - I used 2Peas Chatter and 2Peas Mister Giggles (pay fonts)
Plugin: Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow
 
 
~ Step 1 ~
 
Open a blank 650 x 600 canvas flood-filled white
 
Grab your Selection Tool and choose Circle from the menu
Align your pointer in the middle of the screen; left click your mouse and drag to draw out your circle
Add a new raster layer
 
Open PP1 and Edit / Copy
Activate your working canvas then Edit / Paste into Selection
Deselect
Duplicate it and Rename them as Circle1 and Circle2
As we will be using the top one (Circle2) turn off the visibility of Circle1
We will come back to it later on
 
Paste Frame as new layer
Resize by 10%
Image / Rotate by 10 to the left
Position to the lower left of your circle
Duplicate then Image / Mirror
Position second frame opposite to your liking
Rename them Frame1 and Frame2
 
 
Click inside Frame1
Selections / Modify / Expand by 5
Add new raster layer
 
Open PP12
Edit / Copy
Then back to your working canvas
Edit / Paste into Selection
Deselect
 
Repeat step for Frame2
 
 

~ Step 2 ~
 
Paste Ribbon3 as new layer
Image / Rotate by 25 to the right
Resize by 8%
Position between the two frames as to join them
 
Paste Flourish as new layer
Resize by 50%
Position slightly to the right, then
Layers / Arrange / Send to Bottom
 
Activate your Circle layer
Paste Tree as new layer and resize by 25%
Position slightly to the left and so the base of the tree is hidden by Frame1
 
Paste Cloud as new layer
Resize by 10%
Position to the upper right
Layers / Arrange / Move Down
Duplicate and move slightly to the left and down
 
Paste Wire Clouds as new layer
Resize by 12%
Position to your liking
 
 
 

~ Step 3 ~
 
Paste some flowers to the corners and bottom of the Frames
(these are not included with this kit but found elsewhere with other scraps or clipart)
Resize as necessary
Position to your liking
 
 
Paste Butterfly3 as new layer
Resize by 10%
Position on corner of Frame2 or to your liking
 
Paste Butterfly2 as new layer
Resize by 2% then again by 85%
Image / Rotate by 10 to the right
Position to your liking
 
OK, time to add our tubes
 
Activate Frame1
Click inside the frame using your Magic Wand
Selections / Modify / Expand by 5
Paste a tube of choice as new layer
Layers / Arrange / Move Down
Position beneath frame to your liking
Once satisfied, Selections / Invert
Delete and deselect
 
Activate Frame2 and repeat steps with another tube of choice
 
Add a drop shadow to your tubes:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 8.00
Colour - #000000
 
To your Frames, Tree, Clouds and butterflies add the following drop shadow:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 20
Blur – 2.00
Colour - #000000
 
 
Now you can add another tube to the centerpiece of the tag if you wish
Or you can leave it as is
It's entirely up to you as it is your creation
 
So now it is time to crop and resize your tag
I resized mine to 500 x 460
 
 
 
~ Step 4 ~
 
Activate your Circle1 layer (remember we duplicated this at the beginning)
Layers / Arrange / Move Down
Activate your Pick Tool which will enable the Nodes around your layer
Now position so it is completely central
Keep the Pick Tool enabled so you can see the size of the effect applied with each step
 
Go to Adjust / Blur / Gaussian Blur with a Radius of 25.00
Effects / Texture Effects / Mosaic  - Antique with the following settings:
 
 
 
Duplicate then Layers / Merge / Merge Down
You can turn off your Pick Tool now
 
Activate your top layer
Select your Preset Shape Tool on Ellipse
Foreground - #000000
Background – null
 
Draw out a circle around the outside of your tag to your liking
 
Select your Text Tool with a font of your choice (I am using 2Peas Chatter)
Foreground – null
Background – colour of choice
(to match the kit or your tube)
 
 
Set your mouse over the curve of the Ellipse and type out your text
Position to your liking using the rotator node in the centre of the Vector
Then open your Layer Palette and locate the Vector Layer
Open by clicking the +
Turn off the visibility of the Ellipse then Convert to raster layer
 
Effects / Plugins / Eye Candy 4000 / Gradient Glow with the following settings:
 
 

Apply a drop shadow:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 40
Blur – 3.00
Colour - #2c4848
 
Select another font of choice (or use the same if you wish) and type out your name
Objects / Align / Horizontal Centre in Canvas
Convert to raster layer

Apply the same Gradient Glow as above, then
Add a drop shadow:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 3.00
Colour - #2c4848
 
Finally add your © copyright, licence and watermark
Then save as a GIF or JPG and you're done!

True Love Forever

 
Supplies
 
Scrap kit of choice - I am using "Exquisite Love" by Soxsational Scraps

Template #38 by Missy which can found on her blog
Becky_Mask022 (supplied)
Font of choice - I am using BakerScript (pay font - not supplied)
Plugins: Xero Porcelain and Xero Radiance

~ Step 1 ~
 
Open mask and minimise for later
 
Open the Template and resize canvas to 620 wide x 550 high
Flood fill excess area white on Background layer
Delete copyright info
 
Open Paper4
Edit / Copy
 
Activate Rectangle3
With your Magic Wand click the area inside the rectangle
Selections / Modify / Feather by 2
Edit / Paste into Selection
Deselect
 
Open Paper6
Edit / Copy
 
Activate Rectangle1 and click inside it
Selections / Modify / Feather by 2
Edit / Paste into Selection
Deselect
 
Open Paper11
Adjust / Blur / Gaussian Blur
Radius – 20.00
Repeat
Edit / Copy
 
Activate Rectangle2 and click inside it
Selections / Modify / Feather by 2
Edit / Paste into Selection
Deselect
 
Apply a drop shadow to each layer:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 8.00
 
Back to Paper4
Edit / Copy
 
Activate Heart and click inside it
Selections / Modify / Feather by 2
Edit / Paste into Selection
Deselect
Duplicate then set blend mode to Multiply
Layers / Merge / Merge Down
 
Apply a drop shadow to this layer:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 20
Blur – 8.00
 

~ Step 2 ~
 
Paste Frame3 as new layer
Image / Rotate by 10 to the left
Resize by 65%
Position to the left between the two ends of the heart that "appear" to tuck behind top rectangle
 
 
Open your image of choice and paste as new layer
Image / Rotate by 10 to the left
Resize if necessary and to your liking
(I resized the one I used by 70%)
Layers / Arrange / Move Down
Position beneath Frame
 
With your Magic Wand click inside the Frame
Selections / Modify / Expand by 5
Selections / Invert
Delete and deselect
 
Duplicate your image layer, then
Effects / Plugins / Xero / Porcelain with the following settings:
 
 
 
Then Effects / Plugins / Xero / Radiance with the following settings:
 
 
Lower the opacity of this layer to 90
Layers / Merge / Merge Group
 
Apply a drop shadow to Frame layer:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 5.00
 
Paste Deco1 as new layer
Resize by 30% and position on the upper left corner of the Frame
Duplicate then Image / Mirror
Image / Flip
Then Position in lower right of Frame
 
 
Paste Tag4 as new layer
Image / Rotate by 10 to the right
Resize by 35%
Position in the lower left of the Frame
 
Paste Jewel1 as new layer
Resize by 35%
Position over the Floral part of the tag
 
Using your Eraser carefully erase the bits of green you can see beneath the Jewel element
 
Apply a drop shadow to these layers:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 5.00
 
Paste PostCard as new layer
Duplicate and hide layer
 
On original layer
Resize by 50%
Adjust / Hue & Saturation / Colourise with the following settings:
Hue – 30
Saturation – 55
Position behind Frame and Image layer slightly protruding
 
Go back to your Duplicate and turn the visibility back on
Image / Rotate by 10 to the right
Resize by 50%
Adjust / Hue & Saturation / Colourise with the following settings:
Hue – 15
Saturation – 20
Position behind Frame and Image layer and over first postcard slightly protruding
 
Apply a drop shadow to this layer:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 20
Blur – 5.00
 
Paste Fan3 as new layer
Resize by 50%
Position in lower right at the edge of the middle rectangle
 
Paste Tulips as new layer
Resize by 50%
Position in lower left over the partial edge of the fan
 
Apply a drop shadow to these layers:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 5.00
  
 
~ Step 3 ~
 
Paste WordArt1 as new layer
Layers / Arrange / Bring to Top
Position at the top in the centre
 
Add new raster layer
Flood fill this layer with #520b1f
 
Back to Word Art layer
Selections / Float
Selections / Defloat
Selections / Modify / Feather by 1
Selections / Invert
Activate Flood-filled layer and press delete
Deselect
 
Go to original WordArt layer and lower the opacity to 50
Activate top layer then
Layers / Merge / Merge Down
 
This layer will automatically lighten
Duplicate
Add a drop shadow to this layer:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 5.00
 
Activate Background layer and paste Paper7 as new layer
Layers / New Mask Layer / From Image
Locate Becky_Mask022
Source luminance
OK
 
Use your Pick (or Deformation) Tool to pull the nodes of the Mask layer to your liking
 
 
Select your Text Tool and choose your font
I am using BakerScript which is a pay font
 
Set your Materials Palette with:
Foreground – null
Background - #520b1f
 
Type out your name (short names work best)
Image / Rotate by 10 to the right
Position over the Tag
Convert to raster layer
 
Add a slight drop shadow:
H & V – 1
Opacity – 30
Blur – 3.00
 
Finally add your © copyright (if you are using any of the images I supplied please provide credit back to
© Brent Heighton www.brentheigton.com), your watermark then save as a GIF or JPG and you're done!

Bee-lieve in the Bee-auty of Life

~ Step 1 ~
 
Place the Vix_Mask172 into your Masks folder
 
Open a new 600 x 600 blank canvas flood-filled white
 
Paste Frame2 as new layer
Resize by 12%
Image / Flip
 
With your magic wand click inside the frame
Selections / Modify / Expand by 15
Paste PP-3 as new layer
Resize by 12%
Selections / Invert
Delete
Deselect
Rename this Frame-bkgd
 
Add a drop shadow to your Frame:
H & V - 1
Opacity - 25
Blur - 5.00
Colour - #000000
 
Activate your Background layer
Paste PP-7 as new layer
Resize by 14%
 
Layers / Load/Save Mask / Load Mask from Disk
Locate the Vix_Mask172 with the following settings:
 
 
Position mask layer behind Frame
 
Add a drop shadow:
H & V: 2
Opacity: 20
Blur: 8.00
Colour: #223324
 
Repeat Drop Shadow changing the Horizontal and Vertical drops to -2
 
In your Layer Palette turn off the visibility of your Frame and Frame-bkgd layers so you can see this next step
 
Paste Floral1 as new layer
Resize by 10%
Effects / Plugins / Mura Meister / Copies with the following settings:
 

Turn on the visibility of your Frame and Frame-bkgd layers again
Position the Flowers behind the Frame so it encircles it
 
Add a drop shadow:
H & V - 1
Opacity - 50
Blur - 3.00
Colour - #000000
 

~ Step 2 ~
 
First let's add our tube
Paste tube and resize as necessary
Position in the centre of Frame
 
Paste Tree as new layer
Resize by 15%
Position behind your tube and slightly to the right
 
Paste WishFlower as new layer
Image / Mirror
Resize by 10%
 
Grab your Eraser Tool and erase the stem from the flower
Image / Rotate by 10 to the right
Position along the inside edge of the Frame to the left of the tube
 
 
Paste FloralCorner as new layer
Resize by 10%
Place in the upper left to your liking
 
Paste BeeSticker as new layer
Resize by 5%
Place in upper right outside of Frame
 
Duplicate then Image / Rotate by 20 to the right
Position slightly down
Resize by 85% Bicubic resample
Duplicate then Image / Mirror
Position to your liking
 
Paste ButterflySticker as new later
Resize by 5%
Image / Mirror
Position to the left outside of Frame
 
Paste Ladybug4 as new layer
Resize by 5%
Image / Rotate by 40 to the right
Place on the end of the StrawRaffia ribbon of the Frame
 
Paste Caterpillar as new layer
Resize by 5%
Image / Rotate by 20 to the right
Place on Raffia Ribbon
 
Paste SpringFling-Flower11 as new layer
Resize by 50%
Position along bottom of tube
 
With your Freehand Tool draw around the leaf overlapping one of the daisies
 
   
 

Crop and resize tag
 

~ Step 3 ~
 
Activate Background layer
 
Paste PP12 as new layer
Resize by 20%
 
Layers / Load/Save Mask / Load Mask from Disk
Locate WSL_Mask230
Fit to Canvas
Source luminance
Invert Transparency UNchecked
OK
 
Layers / Merge / Merge Group
 
Lower the opacity of this layer to 40
 
Activate the top layer again
Select your Text Tool and a font of your choice - I am using 2 Peas Chatter
 
Foreground - null
Background - #223324
 
Type out "Bee-lieve in the Bee-auty"
Convery to raster layer
 
Effects / Distortion Effections / Wave with the following settings:
 
 
Select another font for your name
Add a Gradient Glow (optional) and slight drop shadow
 
Finally add your © copyright, licence and watermark, then save as a GIF or JPG and you're done!
